What Does Adrastos Mean?

I seem to have a lot of new readers. I don’t know what the hell y’all are doing here but welcome back my friends to the show that never ends. Jeez that is sooo Seventies…

Anyway I’ve been asked several times recently why Adrastos? What does it mean? Here’s what I wrote in the very first entry of this blog at the end of 2005:

“Why the name Adrastos? Well for one thing it’s a name out of Greek mythology and I’m half Greek. The name means “not inclined to run away” or “undaunted.” That pretty much sums up life Uptown right now: as bad as things get here (and with the clowns who govern our city it gets pretty damn bad) I remain undaunted and determined to hold out until things get better. And they surely can’t get any worse. Hmmm that sounds like a Beatles song but then I often view the world with music on my mind and on the tip of my tongue. Music movies art literature history and politics are some of my passions as are Dr. A and our fine feline friends Pogo and Oscar.”

Obviously politics have been my primary blogging focus in the last few months but I’ve still slipped in the odd music and film reference. Like Ashley (Reconsider Me) Morris I hope to write a bit less about local politics or at least the mechanics thereof and more about other things in the upcoming months. Of course Dollar Bill will probably mess up my plans by stashing money in another creative place. Creative corruption is something we’ve got in spades here in Debrisville…
